of the Students of Bath Investment Club
The Students of Bath Investment Club (SOBIC) is a student-run selective society at the University of Bath with 40 active undergraduate and postgraduate members all of whom are passionate about financial markets.
SOBIC aims to educate students in areas in finance that traditional education omits, providing members with the opportunity to immerse in group projects investigating different asset classes, learn about finance roles and utilise the SOBIC alumni network that has been developed since 2010.
The current committee has plans to resume traditional in-person stock pitch competitions and host networking events. In addition, there will be an increased focus on equity research reports and presentations as this will be applicable as members secure their places at top financial institutions. Later in the year, we aim to have industry speakers presenting their ideas and knowledge on a broad range of asset classes including fixed income, commodities and alternatives.
Our weekly meetings will also be powered by our partners: AmplifyME will supply their Finance Accelerator simulation, eToro with a technical analysis talk and tools and Upside Technologies with their FinTech solutions. Our research will be enhanced by content from Wall Street Oasis and data from InPractise.
Portfolio Managers are members of the society who have completed placements or summer internships in the financial sector and are paramount for organising equity research in their teams.
Analysts are members of the society that are a part of the research team and engage with weekly sessions.
