Students of Bath Investment Club
The Students of Bath Investment Club (SOBIC) is a student-run society at the University of Bath with around 50 active members across the university.
SOBIC aims to educate students in areas in finance that traditional education omits, providing members with the opportunity to immerse in group projects investigating different asset classes, learn about roles in finance and utilise the SOBIC alumni network. The current committee has plans to continue its traditional stock pitch competitions, guest speaker presentations and social events. In addition, there will be an increased focus on equity research reports, mentoring and debates on financial markets. We are also responsible for arranging society based competitions and organising cross-society and cross-university events.
Our members receive great practical experience, context to their studies and mentoring that they can use in their applications to some of the world's largest financial institutions. As a selective society, our small member base means all our members are noticed, included and valued. We also feel that this allows stronger relationships to be formed between members.
Therefore, alongside their study, members can outperform other applicants and secure their dream roles. We have multiple SOBIC Alumni that have secured roles across finance including in sales trading, prime brokerage, asset management, consultancy, accounting, corporate finance and more.
Our partners provide discounts on their services, education and experiences to our members. We aim to strengthen our relationships with our partners and hope to continue to work closely with them in the future.
We are always seeking more opportunities for our members. Therefore, we would love to partner with more firms that will aid us on our projects, research and mentoring to enhance the experience for our members. Please do get in touch via the contact form or LinkedIn.
